The 1st ever Radio Station by a school in South Asia is moving forward to complete another memorable station. FM Royal is the epitome of the achievements of the students of Royal College in radio broadcasting. Since its inception, FM Royal has enjoyed 22 successful broadcasts, with some of them rising to a special prominence, such as in 1995 when FM Royal became the official radio station for the South Asian Games and in 2000 when FM Royal commenced providing live coverage of the Bradby Shield Encounter. In addition, FM Royal has pioneered several successful technologies in Sri Lanka as part of its broadcast. The FM Royal ‘Web Cast’, which launched in 2005, was Sri Lankas first 24-hour Internet mirror of a FM Broadcast, and the FM Royal Podcast, which in 2006 became the first service of its nature in Sri Lanka. Furthermore in 2014 it was able to go worldwide using the FM Royal application and was also broadcasted in the three major cities of Colombo, Kandy and Galle. This year too the Media Unit of Royal College and the Radio club of Royal College and the Media Unit of Royal College wish to join hands to carry on the legacy of FM Royal in a superior fashion.
